The best part about being a mother+daughter team is that we’re (mostly) always on the same page when it comes to what we want to do to make ourselves better and help others be better versions of themselves. For us that has always meant following a healthy lifestyle with a good diet, some yoga, mindfulness, and just having a great time all the time. However, if there is anything this year has taught us, it is that there is more to health than just showing yourself some self love sometimes.

We have always been extremely interested in Āyurveda, and this year when we had so much free time together for the first time, we once again started looking for a teacher. As they say, when the student is ready the Guru will appear, and that is exactly what happened when we found Kerala Ayurveda Acadamy and Dr. Jayarajan Kodikannath.

So, we decided to extend the reach of The Raaka Company to include our Āyurveda journey and general wellness so that we can all grow into healthier and happier versions of ourselves together.

MEET THE GANI BROTHERS

Gani Bhai Rugs was established more than a century ago by a man named Chand Khan. He passed his art and business on to his son, who passed it to his, and now four generations later, Gani Bhai Rugs is run by two brothers Nizam & Ramzan.

We met the Gani brothers, Nizam & Ramzan, in the summer of 2019 during our adventures in Jodhpur. In the heat of at least 95 degrees Fahrenheit, while we sat with them in the shelter of a canopy outside their small shop, Nizam wove a beautiful rug. There are no words to describe the thought, patience, and love that they pour into their work. Every one of their creations combines unbelievable intricacy and perfection and is a true testament to their art.

गनी भाई रग्स की स्थापना एक सदी पहले चांद खान नाम के एक व्यक्ति ने की थी। उन्होंने अपनी कला और व्यवसाय अपने बेटे को दे दिया, जिन्होंने इसे अपने बेटे को दिया, और अब चार पीढ़ियों बाद, गनी भाई रग्स दो भाइयों निज़ाम और रमज़ान द्वारा चलाया जाता है।

हम जोधपुर में अपने यात्रा के दौरान 2019 की गर्मियों में गनी भाइयों, निज़ाम और रमज़ान से मिले। कम से कम 95 डिग्री फ़ारेनहाइट की गर्मी में, जब हम उनके साथ उनकी छोटी दुकान के बाहर चंदवा के आश्रय में बैठे, निज़ाम ने एक सुंदर दरी बुनी । विचार, धैर्य और प्रेम का वर्णन करने के लिए कोई शब्द नहीं हैं जो वे अपने काम में लगाते हैं। उनकी हर रचना अविश्वसनीय, अविश्वसनीयता और पूर्णता को जोड़ती है और उनकी कला के लिए एक सच्ची कसौटी है।
